The herbal medicines are substances that contain active ingredients that can help treat or prevent certain illnesses or conditions.
The ABC’s health experts said there are many different kinds available and it’s not always clear which are the most effective ones.
For example, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised against using any herbal medicines for chronic pain because they may cause adverse reactions.
In Australia, there are a number of herbal medicine supplements and creams available, and some of them are very effective.
The National Health and Medical Research Council has said that there is a lack of evidence to suggest that they are safe for health-care workers to start using, or even for people with chronic pain.
The AAP has advised people to take the recommended dose of an herbal medicine.
“There are different types of herbs, so it’s really important to know what you’re taking,” said AHP regional president Peter Biermann.
“If you’ve got pain or any other conditions that you think you might have or you think there’s a problem with the herbs, we would advise you to see your GP and get some more information from them.”
