A 5-month-old baby boy in a Pennsylvania nursing home is recovering from a chemical exposure, and his mother has filed a lawsuit alleging that she was exposed to it when she was pregnant.
According to a statement released by the family, the boy was taken to the Franklin County Jail last week on a warrant for child endangerment after he came into contact with a substance that was detected in his home while he was being treated for an infection.
The chemical was not tested for safety, and no further information was provided, the family said.
The boy has a history of gastrointestinal illness, which included vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
The child’s mother filed the lawsuit last week against the Franklin Township School District, Franklin County, and the Franklin Medical Center.
She is seeking unspecified damages.
A district spokesman told the AP that the school district does not comment on pending litigation.
The medical center did not respond to requests for comment.
